The video running shows someone (you?) not only participating in an extremely advanced shooting course with an extremely advanced weapon, the audio is talking about not getting deflated by those who are many levels above your own ability to prep. How much did that class cost, how much did that gun cost, how much did that cameraman cost?? Are you kidding me? Did you really intend to show this video with this subject?

Ive been doing the same thing with one or two canned foods here and there. But i know it differs from food to food but how long do they last (canned food) ive read expiration date, 10 years or even 20? also survival books about cooking and medical also helps to have.

It’s worth mentioning the Mormon Canneries. Even if you’re not in our church, you can get a ton of nonperishable food for a few hours of volunteering, plus you can network with people who have more grain in their basement than some third world countries.

As a homeowner prepper, I love the Costco tote bins. You can get them for $8 a pop and you can get barcodes for them to scan and see what’s inside, or, my wife has a label maker and can help out with that. I also like the cheap 5 gallon buckets from home depot or Lowe’s that I can at the bare minimum fill with water if something goes down for the dogs, washing off, boiling food etc. I get little Amazon gift cards on the side from work all the time and I use those to buy my stuff. Anything from dried food, to power banks, to portable stoves, etc. on top of this every time I visit Costco I buy 6 gallons of water for like $5 and everytime I go to the regular grocery store I get at least one extra can of food to put in the pantry. Living in tornado alley but being from a place where you can get hit with hurricanes, I have been practicing this basically my whole life. I find it to be the easiest part of preparedness. Where it gets more challenging for me is things like medical supplies/medicines, batteries, etc.

It's not that I don't think we shouldn't have some kind of prep, but the point is that we should all work to save our civilization so that we don't get to the top two levels of SHTF in the first place. Living in some total civil collapse is much much harder than normal life, and as much as we may not like many aspects of our government and our society, it is still what allows us to live mostly comfortable, safe lives, with a certain degree of freedom, as compared to some hellholes in other parts of the world.

1. Love the rice, I like Calrose myself. 2. Yea, knowing how to use excel is probably one of the biggest superpowers in life. 3. Life is important, live it first, be prepared for normal things, have insurance, fire extinguisher, healthy body, etc and only then: 4. Start prepping, and don't go overboard. Remember that all lot of this stuff adds up quickly $$$$, and as you say, expires too. A year or two goes by quickly.

Check out Erbswurst: German Survival Ration if you like pea soup. Lasts forever and if you throw in some fried SPAM it’s not bad. Also extremely compact if you need something to store in a pack.

What is interesting is the fact that selling only one of your high-end rifles would provide sufficient cash for a years supply of food, water filter, and other long-term survival items.

If one is past 30 years old, still living in an apartment, has a 6-month stash of chef boyardee and MRE, yet has a stockpile of Gucci ARs, ammo, body armor, optics, NV, thermal, etc they need to stop, reassess, and fix their priorities in life.

This may sound stupid, but having bulk supplies of popular commodities people are blatantly addicted to might not be a bad idea even if you don’t use them. Coffee, tobacco, or alcohol are all worth twice their weight in gold during even the shortest of disasters, and except for tobacco products can last for extended periods of time. I’m not saying to buy gallons of vodka, but having a cheap bottle or two on hand might come in handy for making friends should things go pear shaped. Plus caffeine has other practical uses for people who maybe aren’t used to working longer days, or aren’t getting enough fiber. Wars were literally fought over tea, long before most people in the world became addicted to it.
